About my Journey
My interest in the human body grew out of my dance training in ballet and modern dance, and a curiosity about the healing potential of movement. This led to a degree in human movement studies and a business as a personal trainer back in the late 80’s. Soon, my clients were commenting on the quality of my touch as I assisted them with stretching and relaxation. So began my interest in the power of touch.
It is now 38 years since I obtained my massage therapy licence. I have practiced in New York, California, Puerto Rico, and New Jersey, specializing in the treatment of pain and movement dysfunctions through methods informed by functional anatomy and pain science. In the interim, I have also taught dance and movement classes in various colleges and dance studios, obtained a masters in wellness and health promotion, and managed a comprehensive corporate wellness program that included bodywork for employees. I currently own a private practice, Calma Therapy, in Skillman, NJ.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to start teaching massage therapists and other health care professionals. Since then I have been offering in-person seminars that integrate clinical assessment, manual techniques, movement re-education, and complementary modalities. Each course is designed to support better outcomes for clients and patients. As an NCBTMB Approved Continuing Education Provider and Certified Kinesio Taping® Instructor, I collaborate with host educational institutions to bring my seminars to their professional communities.
It is a pleasure to introduce you to my seminars! I hope to see you soon as we continue learning together.
